We were delighted to find poetry in the visitor's book following a happy stay at Laykin.

There were three young families from York,
Who enjoyed a jolly good walk,
They drank and they ate,
until it got late,
And by eck they couldn't half talk.
A splendid weekend was had,
By children, mum and dad,The views and blue sky
And cottage up high,
To leave such a place leaves us sad :(

Snow at the weekend, but not enough to prevent access to the cottage thank goodness.  Our guests intimated that they had adventures in the snow but have not heard exactly what happened!

Northern Lights

The Northern Lights, or Aurora Borealis, featured prominently across the skies of Northern Britain last week.  Just sorry we weren't there to see them!

This house is in Healaugh.

Swaledale hit the National news yesterday 8th December as flooding caused widespread disruption and damaged homes and bridges.  Several roads were shut but are now reopened.
